| The West Shore are the mud flats
along the west side of hayling. This mud is great for waders
Oystercatcher, Dunlin, Turnstone, Whimbrel, Curlew, Redshank,
Grey Plover ect. This is the first Place I see Brent Geese
each year. A mix of gulls can be seen here too. At high tide I
have seen lots of Great Crested Grebe, well over 30 Cormorant
and groups of over 10 Red Breasted Merganser. There are lots
of Tall marker polls in the mud Cormorant sit on these. The
other birds that sit on these polls are Osprey during there
migration at least three osprey have been seen on these polls
at one time around the harbour. The fastest way of getting
here is to go all the way to the end of North Shore Road go
though the gap in the bush at the end of the road. You are now
just next to where the above photo was taken. |
